John Denver, 1943-1997

Though born to a city,
he was Mother Nature's Son
And to those that really knew him,
he was a friend to everyone

He's gone down the river of darkness
to meet the light of day
Singing folksy songs
about his travels along the way

Far across the flat lands,
where the Rockies touch the sky
Up into the mountains peaks,
where the eagles fly so high

His legacy still lingers
though he's been gone awhile
And, Sunshine On My Shoulders
still can make me smile!

This man was a singer, a poet, a voice for change and a loved and respected friend. I have seen John hug a bear like a baby, hold the earth in his hand like it was rare treasure, cry at a sunset and reach up and blow kisses at the sky.

We shared a vision years ago that people could be a little kinder, the earth could be greener and all nations would join together in peace.

He fought hard for what he believed in -- using music, words and love as a sword. And in many ways I would have to say things have gone in his direction.

But, this man, this son, this father, my friend was taken too early -- for his work  is still undone. For those that shared his vision the fight will still go on.

Peace * Love * Hope

To my  family from WindStar that share his vision --
I couldn't love you more!
